FAQs
What does a talent manager do?
A Talent Manager works closely with their client in every facet of their career and acts in conjunction with their client's agents, publicists, business managers/financial advisors, attorneys and all others.

As an important member of the team, the talent manager functions as the facilitator and coordinator of the efforts and activities of the talent's entire team.

Why do I need a talent manager?
This depends on your situation. If you're new or not quite there yet, a talent manager's connections and experience can help you avoid pitfalls or obstacles on your way to success. GREAT managers can help you find the proper training, find the right agent, find the best film and music opportunities, etc.

If you're well on your way to becoming a recognizable talent, a great manager can be a top ally in your career. Often times established talent find it difficult to successfully handle the business end and still maintain the level of focus required to keep their creative development at a high level. So you have to ask yourself, "How far am I looking to go?" Then assess your management needs from there (read the "How To Spot A Manager" article on this page).

What are the Top 3 mistakes that H&W has seen actors and singers make?
1. SIGNING TO POOR MANAGEMENT FIRMS (Do Your Homework, Check IMDb Resumes)
2. SIGNING WITH LARGE FIRMS PREMATURELY
3. NOT MARKETING THEMSELVES FOR SUCCESS

We have seen far too many talented people sign with fly-by-night managers who have no connections, experience, or track record. If the person or company you're considering as your career rep hasn't shown any real progress in their own business, they probably aren't qualified to be your rep you. Although your personal relationship with a manager is important, also keep in mind that you are a business, so you shouldn't let someone manage you just because he/she is your relative or friend. Seek a reputable manager with a track record or someone who displays the drive and organizational skills to properly handle your career.

On the flipside, we've also seen tons of talented people sign with major agencies or companies who have a client roster of "A-Listers" that completely overshadow the up-and-coming artist.

What does H&W look for in a potential client?
H&W is very selective with whom we choose to manage. Most of our actors and singers are highly skilled/trained and possess a resume/body of work that places them in the top 15% of their profession of focus. Individuals who are seeking representation at H&W must be realistic, loyal/trustworthy, and hardworking. Success is strictly based on how well you've prepared yourself for opportunities that come your way. It's a highly competitive business, so you have to work hard and be patient. The more you give us to work with, the better we can do our job.
